COMPETITIONS

Climate Change Video Competition (September 2014)
DMC students had submitted an entry in collaboration with the Housing Development Board (HDB). The story is about solar energy and the importance of conservation mind sets.

Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB)
Video Competition (September 2014)
Two teams of DMC students’ entries received recognition when the competition results were released. One team won 2nd prize under the “Open Category”, while the other team won Merit prize under the “Institutes of Higher Learning Category”.
Yellow Ribbon Competition
Yellow Ribbon organised a video competition on exconvicts as part of their Yellow Ribbon Project 2014. The competition aims to raise awareness of the need to give second chances to ex-offenders and their families. Two teams from Diploma in Mass Communication (DMC) submitted their videos as entries and won.

Local Champions, Global Leaders Competition
In this competition, the students are paired with Breadtalk to put together an impressive exhibition to profile to promote the entrepreneurial spirit, values and contributions of the company towards economic development in Singapore.

Deepanraj Ganesan
Deepan likes to do anything that makes him happy and more often than not, it involves football. He is a sports fanatic and is interested in every variety, but he feels that nothing comes close to watching his favourite team Manchester United tear up the pitch. He may look a little fierce but say hello and chat him up, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Kane is a self-proclaimed media junkie because he spends most of his time on social media and doing media-related activities like writing and editing. His favourite artiste is Demi Lovato as he finds her very talented yet humble.
Being in the media industry has always been his passion, and he has a keen interest in fashion and lifestyle. Kane would like to be an editor of a magazine in future.

Nadia loves to watch rom-coms, take long walks on the beach, and travel to foreign lands. Whenever she travels, she ends up grocery shopping for anything cool and unique. A hobby of hers is writing, and if she ever needs to clear her head or release anger, the first thing she goes for is a pen and some paper.

Naadiah Badib
Often called Nady by her friends, Naadiah can be easily recognized by her big wavy hair, which she partially blames her Arab ethnicity for. She spends her free time reading novels, attending readings and writing short stories in aspirations to be the next Audrey Niffenegger. Her guilty pleasure is to enjoy half-melted chocolate because she knows for a fact that it tastes better that way.

.Juliana loves scrapbooking, but her favourite hobby is teaching basic English to her grandmother, whom she loves dearly. When the clouds turn gloomy and everyone takes out an umbrella, you’ll see Juliana taking a deep breath because she loves the smell of rain. Like many of us, she’s a little scared of the dark, but she leaves her light on as she sleeps. One issue though, she ends up getting a hefty electricity bill at the end of every month.

As someone with a lot of drive and leadership potential, Deepan loves competition. This is paired for his enthusiasm for competitive sports like soccer. His passion extends beyond the boundaries of sports and into his role as the acting PR head for the media lab. With his charisma and determination, he looks to bring the media lab to greater heights and inspire students around him to be more involved as potential media practitioners.

Her recipe for success? A pinch of fun and a truckload of hardwork. Working alongside Kulvin, Gwen exercises caution and tries to be as meticulous as possible when it comes to her work. Do not be deterred by her fierce exterior. She may look a bit unapproachable but speak to her and you will be taken aback.

Hanis Shahilla

Three simple words to describe Hanis; laid back, out-going and spontaneous. Do not be taken aback by her wild ideas and personality, there is more to her than what she seems to be. As the acting assistant head for PR in the media lab. She brings about color and coordination amongst the different sectors with her jovial personality.

Kulvin Kaur

Kulvin is our very own dog whisperer. Her passion does not end at the nurturing of her pet dog Foxy but also extends to her love for practicing of public relations in events. As the acting lead for Events in the media lab, she has participated in multiple activities like ASPIRE and most recently CandyGram

Nicole Gonzales

Ever heard of a poster girl designing posters? Enter Nicole. She’s not your average girl you see on the street. Under that calm posterior is a sea of creativity waiting to be expressed on a blank piece of paper. Her dedication to design goes beyond the media lab as it is both her pride and joy. Having moved to a new home recently, Nicole looks to bring in her media design expertise to her own place of comfort.

As the acting lead for social media of DMC, Delia looks to bring about publicity through her tech savvy ways and street smarts. Through her hard work and dedication to her field, Delia has brought about great change and awareness regarding the activities DMC hosts. Paired with her fun and out-going personality, she is definitely not someone you could miss. Just say hi and you will know what I mean.
